Match #7 – Women’s Semi Final
Camosun College Chargers (#1) vs. College of the Rockies Avalanche (#5)
Start Time: 6pm
Final Score: CAM 3-0 COTR (25-20, 25-18, 25-15)

Camosun confirmed to compete for crown

The top-seeded Camosun Chargers women took centre stage tonight taking down the #5 COTR Avalanche in three fast and furious sets. While the AVS slide over to tomorrow’s Bronze Medal match against the Capilano Blues at 1pm, Camosun advances to go head to head with Island Rivals, the VIU Mariners to grapple for gold.

“VIU is going to have a good game plan,” comments Chargers Head Coach Chris Dahl who was named PACWEST WVB Coach of the Year. “They are going to come out and execute with a lot of heart and passion. This is familiar territory for them, so they’ll have their sights set on an absolute battle. We’re thrilled, it’s an all Island final!”

First-year libero Alexa Koshman (Lethbridge, AB) received POM honours for her excellent passing and her performance as a defensive leader. The PACWEST All-Rookie Team recipient racked up 12 digs.

Camosun third-year middle Lainey Jantzi (Parksville) earned Player of the Match for her 9 kills, 2 aces and 1 stuff block. Lainey produced the highest kill efficiency over tonight’s three sets and carried a significant workload in the middle.

“We are feeling really good about tomorrow,” says Lainey Jantzi. “We are excited and we are going to play OUR game!”

Regardless of tomorrow’s outcome, Camosun is confirmed to compete in the CCAA National Championships March 11-14 in Quebec.
