(ISN) – Kamloops, BC- The Victoria Royals were defeated by the Kamloops Blazers 4-2 on Friday night, as the homeside scored three goals in the final frame.
Victoria and Kamloops skated into the third period knotted at 1-1. The two clubs exchanged goals before the Blazers’ Matt Needham scored the game winner to break a 2-2 tie. The Royals’ markers were tallied by Greg Chase and Brandon Magee. Kamloops’ Brady Gaudet scored two goals including an empty net marker and Logan McVeigh notched the other goal.
Royals’ netminder Justin Paulic turned away 38 of 41 shots, while Blazers’ goaltender Connor Ingram stopped 12 out of 14 shots.
Both teams were unable to capitalize on the powerplay as Victoria went 0/1=0.0% and Kamloops went 0/4=0.0%
The Royals return home on Monday, March 2nd and Tuesday, March 3rd to host the Seattle Thunderbirds for the first time this season in a two-game set. Puck drop for both contests is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
