Saanich, BC (ISN) – The Nations’s 8th ranked Camosun College Chargers forged their way to an electrifying four-set victory over the Nation’s No. 1 Douglas College Royals to capture their second at-home PACWEST Provincial Championship title at the 2015 PACWEST Volleyball Championships at PISE Gym at Camosun College on Sunday evening.

The Chargers and Royals split the first two sets, with the Chargers coming out of the gate with a 25-19 win, while the Royals responded in set two with a 25-23 win. The next two sets were just as close, with the Chargers winning both by scores of 25-23 to thrill the packed crowd.

The Chargers win also avenges to some degree, the loss by the Camosun Women’s squad, who fell to VIU in an amazing five-set display of volleyball in the game just prior to the men’s final. The Chargers had won the opening two sets before VIU came roaring back for the win, in a game that delayed the men’s start by a full hour.

“That last point was a blur,” said Chargers Head Coach Charles Parkinson. “Jeremy Finn was jumping up and down and if I hadn’t put my clipboard down, there would have been papers all over the floor! I’m obviously really proud of the team, but this isn’t our end goal … that’s Nationals!
