(ISN) – VICTORIA, B.C. – The University of Victoria Vikes men’s golf team are currently second in the team standings after round one of the Master’s College Spring Invitational hosted Mar. 2-3 at Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, Calif. Mike Griffin and Alex Cartwright lead the Vikes after shooting 2-under par 70 to sit tied for fourth individually.
Play was suspended in the 15-team tournament due to darkness in the second round, allowing only the first round scores to be official. UCLA are currently in first place with a 7-under par 281 team score thanks to the leadership of senior walk-on Kyle Pollema who shot his second-straight 68 of the year.
Vikes first year Lawren Rowe is currently tied for 19th after a first round score of 75, while Matthew Broughton shot 76 to sit tied for 25th and Andrew Funk shot 80 to sit tied for 51st.
In the team standings, the second-placed Vikes are followed by La Verne (299) and California Lutheran (300). Hosts, Master’s College, are currently in fifth (301).
The 15-team and the field of 77 golfers will finish their second and third rounds today, Mar. 3.
