Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce that our National Women’s Team will be playing two international matches in Calgary this May, as part of Canada’s largest volleyball event ever –Calgary 2015.
The women will be taking on Puerto Rico on May 13 and 14, at the Stampede Corral.
“I am looking forward to playing in Calgary in front of a home crowd.
It is a great opportunity for us to showcase my team to all these young athletes who are participating at the National Championships,” said Canada’s women’s head coach, Arnd Ludwig. “With Puerto Rico, we have a great opponent. We have had a lot of close games in the past against them, and I hope we can help promote women’s volleyball in Canada.”
Puerto Rico is ranked 15th, according to the FIVB World Ranking, and Canada is 16th. Both teams are also preparing for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto this July.
The women’s team joins Canada’s largest nationals, with more than 10,000 participants in various age groups, and the men’s team’s World League matches on May 16 and 17, to create a huge celebration of volleyball in Calgary this May.
Ticket information for the women’s matches will be announced shortly. Tickets for the men’s World League matches, against Cuba, are now available at www.ticketmaster.ca.
