(ISN) – The West Kelowna Warriors had a 2-1 lead heading into the 3rd period on Saturday night but the Penticton Vees tied it up and got the winner with 2:14 remaining to take a 3-1 series lead.

One night after a marathon game that went halfway through triple overtime before the Vees won it, both teams came out a little slow but it was Penticton who got on the board first.

Working a nice 3 on 2, Gabe Bast was the recepient of a Patrick Newell pass and his shot on Stephen Heslop squeaked through and over the line.

The Warriors played physical after the opening goal but couldn’t create any goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Lewis Zerter Gossage had a glorious opportunity in the period as well but snapped one off the bottom of the crossbar and it stayed out.

In the 2nd, the Warriors would tie the game on a Kristian Blumenschein wrist shot that bounced off something at the side of the goal and ended up going in.

Then, on the Warriors second power-play of the night, Liam Blackburn would get a beautiful pass through the seam from Tanner Campbell and beat Vees netminder Hunter Miska.

The 3rd period lead hasn’t been a good omen for any team in this series, and the Warriors were on the wrong side of it once again in this game.

Connor Chartier put a rebound past Heslop at 5:03 and tied the game up, which looked destined for overtime once again.

In the final three minutes, Zerter-Gossage would wrap the puck around the net and it ended up sliding right to Dakota Conroy who put it into the yawning cage.

Heslop still picked up 1st star honours as the affiliate goaltender made 36 saves, one night after making 47 in a losing effort.

Game 5 of the series goes Monday at the South Okanagan Events Center at 7 pm. The Warriors will be sending a fan bus down so call the office 250-769-7051 to book your seat.
