(ISN) – VICTORIA – The University of Victoria Vikes men’s golf team took first place following their third and final round of the Corban Spring Invitational hosted Mar. 9-10 at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore. First-year Vike Mike Griffin took the top individual spot as the team finished first overall at 7-over par 859 score.
Griffin shot 71 in his final round to lead all Vikes with an overall score of 3-under par 210. Third-year Vike Matthew Broughton tied for fourth place with Concordia’s Kolton Kyne after finishing his final round with 71 to card a 2-over par 215. Kyne was the top golfer for Concordia, finishing with a three-round score of 215 (73-73-69).
Corban’s Jared Lambert followed Griffin in individual standings, finishing second overall after shooting 71, 70 and 71 (212). Corban University also ranked second behind Victoria earning an 18-over par 870, while Concordia finished third (872).
Vikes rookie Lawren Rowe outscored his previous two rounds to finish with a final round score of 71 and finishing tied for fifth place with Corban’s David Patterson. Third-year Vike Alex Cartwright finished 5-over par 218 and was ranked sixth overall. Jesse Teron tallied 233 at the end of the course.
Up next, the Vikes will prepare for the Battle at Primm from Mar. 23-25, hosted by the Primm Valley Golf Club. Live stats of the event will be available at golfstat.com.
