No. 7 Denver opened the 2015 NCHC postseason with a thrilling victory on Friday night at Magness Arena, capturing a 4-3 come-from-behind win against Minnesota-Duluth on the strength of a three-goal performance by senior forward Ty Loney.

Denver now leads its best-of-three quarterfinal series with UMD 1-0 with Game 2 set to be staged tomorrow night, also at Magness Arena.

“It’s great to be able to contribute offensively but long as we do well as a team I’m happy,” Loney said after the dramatic home victory.

“This was an intense game for sure and it’s definitely great to start off our postseason run with a win. There’s a lot of character on this team and even when we were down, we knew we could come back and that’s exactly what we did.”
