This summer, as our country takes the world soccer stage, Canada Soccer and Mondelēz Canada © whose family of brands include Chips Ahoy, Ritz, Stride, Maynards, belVita and Mr. Christie’s © announce a new multi-year partnership that will celebrate Canada’s National Teams and support grassroots soccer in communities from coast-to-coast.
“We’re excited to partner with Mondelēz on an innovative campaign that will support Canada’s National Teams while driving tangible resources to the grassroots levels of our sport,” said Peter Montopoli, Canada Soccer General Secretary.
“Mondelēz Canada’s support is instrumental in the development of our sport, from grassroots to National Teams, and we look forward to continuing to grow the beautiful game in our country through this new partnership.”
In 2014, Mondelēz first celebrated the tremendous national pride we feel for our top athletes through its partnership with the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and the launch of its Pride & Joy campaign. Building on this support, Pride & Joy will launch again in May 2015, encouraging Canadians to show pride for Canada’s National Teams while giving joy to youth soccer. The campaign will turn Canadians’ cheers into real funds for Canadian youth soccer clubs.
“Mondelēz Canada has an established history in supporting Canadian athletes and, as an official supporter of Canadian Women’s National Teams, we are thrilled to join our nation in cheering them on as they compete on the world soccer stage,” said Mackenzie Davison, Director, Instore Activation and Media, Mondelēz Canada. “Our top athletes also started out just playing sport recreationally and having fun. We recognize that team sports can have a lasting, positive impact on Canada’s youth and communities, and that’s why we’ve created a program that provides much needed funds to soccer clubs across the country, inspiring pride and joy in all youth who participate.”
In May, Canadian soccer fans can download the Pride & Joy Cheer App to show their support and help raise up to $100,000 for Canadian youth soccer clubs. Simply by shaking the Pride & Joy Cheer App whenever the Canadian Women’s Team plays, funds will be raised for selected clubs across Canada. The more you cheer, the more funds are raised, with a total of up to $5,000 per club.
How it works
From 24 February to 27 March, community soccer clubs across Canada can sign up for a chance to win up to $5,000. Clubs are invited to submit an application detailing the impact of soccer in their community and how the funds could be used towards enhancing the soccer experience of their membership.
