Columbia Blue Spencer Muirhead 2014 C 3B Oshawa, Ont. University of Toronto.
Jackson Campbell is a 2016 OF/2B with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Sherwood Park, AB who attends Bev Facey HS. Campbell has a solid frame at present with projection remaining for future growth. At bat, he spreads out wide in the box while crouching slightly and standing square to the plate. Leg lift trigger with solid hand actions; drives forward well and hits consistently off a firm front side. Using an aggressive approach, he tries to drive the ball back up the middle and into the opposite field consistently. Makes consistent quality contact. In the field, he throws from an overtop slot with solid arm strength, gathering well and using his momentum to fire the ball towards the target. Good balance shown throughout defensive drills. Good student.
Spencer Muirhead is a 2014 C/3B with a 5-9 190 lb. frame from Oshawa, Ont., who attends University of Toronto. Compact strong build, fairly mature physically. Right handed hitter, busy hand load, line drive swing plane with some late lift out front at times, has good strength in his swing and creates some bat speed, showed a patient approach against live pitching and has an idea of the zone. Polished defensive actions behind the plate, keeps his footwork and exchange simple and repeatable, arm action is a bit long on his release, has good arm strength and makes accurate throws. Solid all around player who looks like he understands the game. Good student.
Philip Whelan is a 2016 OF/RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Calgary, Alta., who attends Holy Trinity Academy. Solid build with good size throughout frame; still shows physical projection remaining on body. Hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance with a high back elbow. Spreads out in the box and loads with a toe tap trigger then comes through the zone with a line drive swing plane. Battles in the box, fouling off a lot of tough pitches. Makes consistent contact and shows solid power potential as well. Worked out in the outfield during positional drills, showcasing a solid arm that reached 78 MPH and was consistently accurate and on target. Fielded the ball cleanly and gathered to a crow hop with compact arm and body action. Shows a simple delivery on the mound with a quality FB/CH combo in his arsenal. Throws strikes with both pitches, FB works down, and changeup shows cutting action. Pounded the zone.Very good student.
