(ISN) – VICTORIA – The University of Victoria Vikes women’s golf team completed their final round at the Battle at Primm, hosted at Primm Valley Golf Club in Nevada, on Mar. 24. Overall, UVic sat fifth in the team standings with fourth year Michaela Abey finishing as the top Vike, placing fifth individually.
Rookie Vike Brianna Carrels improved in the second round shooting 36 in the front nine and 34 in the back nine to total 70. The Alberta native finished the day with an overall score of 146 to sit sixth individually, just behind teammate Abey.
Laura Ferreira shot 81 on Day 2 to end with a score of 160, while Shannon Raina shot 80 in the final round to end with 162. Fourth year Cari Chow also improved in the second round shooting from 89 to 82 and finished the day with a score of 171.
In team standings, UBC finished in first place with a total score of 587, while Wayland Baptist and Northwood followed in second and third respectively, both tied at 597. San Marcos was three points ahead of Victoria with 610.
Northwood’s Elsa Westin took the top spot in individual standings with a score of 137 while both Stephanie Wong and Kat Kennedy from UBC finished their final rounds with 142.
Up next, the Vikes will compete in the regional conference Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) Championship hosted at the Club at Colony Creek in Texas, Apr. 27-28.
