Curling | Day 2 Recap

Olds Curling Club was the site of another fantastic day featuring four full draws of action. All teams enter Day 3 with school & personal pride on the line… to go along with a shot at advancing to play for a CCAA medal.

Women’s Draw:

The Augustana Vikings and Humber Hawks have soared to the front of the pack, rounding out Day 2 at 4-1 heading into the final day of round robin where they will face Augustana and NAIT.

Close behind are the NAIT Ooks and Fanshawe Falcons, both at 3-2. The Ooks went 2-1 on the day while Fanshawe was 1-2. Holland and Mohawk both hold two wins apiece. Day 3 schedule promises to be just as thrilling, starting off with a women’s-only draw at 8:30 a.m. that features a clash between the two top teams.

Talk about competitive – 13 out of the 20 completed women’s games have been decided by two points or less… and six games have already been decided by extra ends.

Men’s Draw:

After four heated draws of action, two schools sit atop the pack… The Fleming Knights and Olds Broncos are current top dogs with a record of 4-1. The Broncos came up clutch, scoring in the final end in two out of their three wins today. Meanwhile, the Knights dropped their only game of the championships in the opening draw, before earning two convincing victories in their final two games. A three-way tie for third second place features the MacEwan Griffins, Augustana Vikings and Sault Cougars. Fanshawe also lays claim to two wins.
