Vikes rank ninth after Rounds 1 and 2 at Battle at Primm

(ISN) – VICTORIA – The University of Victoria Vikes men’s golf team completed their first two rounds at the Battle at Primm in Nevada on Mar. 23-24. The Vikes men are currently ninth in the team standings among 17 schools contesting over the Primm Valley golf course.


Third year Alex Cartwright was the leading Vike on opening day, shooting 70 and 73 to total a 1 under par score of 143. He finished the first two rounds 11th in individual standings.

First years Lawren Rowe and Mike Griffin were the next highest scoring Vikes, carding 145 and 147, respectively. Sean Hay and Matthew Broughton finished their first two rounds with 158 and 162 respectively.

The top scoring leaders on Day 1 were Oklahoma City with a score of 564, followed by California State San Marcos with 570 and Wayland Baptist with 576. UBC is currently fourth with 578.

Jamie Warman from Oklahoma is the leading golfer after the first two rounds, shooting 66-70 to total 136. Concordia’s Kolton Kyne is the next highest individual scorer with 138.

The Vikes are back on the Primm Valley golf course today, Mar. 24, to play their final rounds.
