(ISN) – BOULDER, Colo. – Weetabix, maker of delicious Non-GMO Project Verified, whole grain cereals, has re-signed as Official Breakfast Cereal of USA Rugby, the national governing body announced Monday.
Weetabix’s partnership with USA Rugby began in early 2014 around Atlanta 7s, the U.S. leg of the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series, and made a sizable impact on the understanding of proper nutrition for athletes young and old throughout the year.
The brand was featured prominently during the sold-out match between the USA Men’s Eagles and New Zealand All Blacks at Soldier Field in Chicago in November, while Eagles and All-Americans traveling around the world were fed the nutritious cereal.
“Weetabix fuels each one of our national teams and continues to support our efforts to promote the game across the country,” USA Rugby Chief Executive Officer Nigel Melville said. “We are lucky to have their continued support as the game of rugby reaches the next level in the United States.”
Made with 32 grams of whole grains per serving, Weetabix Whole Grain Biscuit Cereal is low in sodium and fat, and contains just two grams of sugar. Weetabix Whole Grain Biscuits can be enjoyed in a variety of ways, including alone, topped with fruit and nuts, sprinkled over yogurt, and warmed in the microwave.
High in iron and thiamine, Weetabix is also a good source of niacin and fiber, and is kosher, vegetarian, and vegan. Whole grain cereal like Weetabix, consumed with low-fat milk, has been shown to support post-exercise muscle recovery in athletes at a level equal to that of popular, carbohydrate-electrolyte sports drinks.
“We’re honored to help fuel rugby athletes of all ages with clean, whole grain nutrition,” Weetabix North America Director of U.S. Marketing Katrina Yolen said. “Our mission aligns perfectly with that of USA Rugby, and we’re excited to continue our partnership in 2015 while sharing the message of proper nutrition for all athletes.”
Weetabix will continue to support USA Rugby’s national teams with a presence at events such as World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup 2015. Eagles will also be featured in the breakfast cereal’s YOU ARE WHAT YOU WEETABIX ™ integrated marketing campaign.
Each month, the Weetabix Energy Challenge will engage Eagles fans and rugby players across the country for the chance to win a variety of prizes with fun, energy-fueled activities. Learn more about the Weetabix Energy Challenge.
