(ISN) – The Nanaimo Clippers got into the win column for Round 3 in their first home date of the series with a 7-3 home victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs.
Brendan Shane’s goal early in the third proved to be the game-winner and Corey Renwick’s first of two would be the insurance. Nanaimo led 1-0 after one on Yanni Kaldis’ marker and 3-2 after two after Cole Maier and Sheldon Rempal tallied 1:59 apart.
Brandon Potomak and Jake Hand had the Chiefs goals in the middle frame and Rory Bell got their final goal in the third. Brett Roulston had an empty-netter and Renwick added another to put the finishing touches on the win.
Nanaimo is now 1-1 in the Round-Robin semifinal with a goal differential of +1. Chilliwack hosts the next game, Sunday in a 7 p.m. start with the Penticton Vees paying a visit.
