(ISN) – Canada started off Day Three at the Hong Kong Sevens with a 21-10 victory against Kenya on Sunday, which booked their place in the Bowl semi-finals.

Canada 21-10 Kenya

Canada got back to winning ways at the Hong Kong Sevens after battling to a 21-10 victory over Kenya in their Bowl quarter-final, which kicked off Day Three’s action.

Despite suffering an early setback when Andrew Amonde dived over down the short-side, the Canadians recovered well and ultimately won by one score.

Canada’s first try would only come in the fifth minute but it was worth the wait as Lucas Hammond’s inside ball found Harry Jones, who raced over for what was a converted score before John Moonlight pounced on loose ball to double the account.

With the Canadians 14-5 in front going into the second-half the next score was always going to be critical and it went the way of Kenya, with Bush Mwale racing 40 metres to reduce the arrears to just four points with four minutes remaining.

But Canada saw stood firm in their own 22 for a period of Kenyan pressure and in fact sealed the win in the closing stages when replacement Sean White finished off on the right wing to book the team’s place in the semi-finals of the Bowl.
