The winter training season is coming to an end. As a result the Rowing Canada Aviron Spring Trials will soon be underway.
These trials allow athletes to test the effectiveness of their winter training. It also provides a ranking of the athletes in anticipation of crew selection for the summer racing season.
Most of the racing will take place in small boats (singles and pairs).
Two spring trials are being organized.
The first set of trials will take place in Western Canada and will feature prominently athletes based at the National Training Centre in Victoria, B.C. This includes the senior heavyweight men’s team.
These trials will take place at Burnaby Lake, British Columbia, on April 18th and 19th.
The second set of trials will take place in Central Canada and will highlight athletes based at the National Training Centre in London, Ontario. This includes the senior lightweight men and the women’s team.
These trials will take place on Fanshawe Lake, in London, Ontario, on May 2nd and 3rd.
At each event, there will be an athletes and coaches meeting at 7am to start both days, with racing to follow. Preliminary draft schedules will be posted in the events section of the RCA webpage.

The entry deadline for the Western Spring Trials close on April 10th while the entry deadline for the Eastern Spring Trials close on April 24th.
