Schmidli Signs in Switzerland

Kris Schmidli

(ISN) – Prince Albert, SK— Left Winger Kris Schmidli has signed with the GCK Lions of the NLB Swiss Pro League and will not return to the Raiders next season. The NLB GCK Lions are a farm team of the ZSC Lions of the NLA which is the top professional hockey league in Switzerland; the ZSC Lions are coached by Marc Crawford, former NHL player and coach.

Schmidli joined the Raiders in January as a part of the deal that sent Leon Draisaitl to Kelowna. Schmidli played in 17 games with the Raiders scoring 17 points on 7 goals and 10 assists.

“We encouraged Kris to do what was best for his career. He enjoyed his time in Canada and here in Prince Albert but felt signing a pro contract in his home country of Switzerland was his best option. We thank him for his contributions and wish him the best of luck,,” Bruno Campese, Raider General Manager.
