Volleyball Canada is pleased to announce that Ryan Ratushniak has been named women’s team assistant coach for the 2015 season.
“Ryan brings his experience coaching at all levels, including with our national men’s program, to our team. I’m looking forward to working with him this year as we prepare for what promises to be a busy and exciting season,” said Arnd Ludwig, Canada’s national women’s team coach.
Ratushniak is the assistant men’s coach at University of Manitoba, and he joins the women’s program after the departure of long-time assistant coach, Scott Koskie. Ratushniak, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, is also a Volleyball Canada Centre of Excellence coach, and was an assistant National B Team men’s coach in 2014.
“I’m excited to work with coach Ludwig and help the athletes achieve their goals,” said Ratushniak. “It’s a great competition schedule this summer and I’m really looking forward to the work that needs to be done, and contributing to the preparation for these strong competitive matches.”
This year the women’s team, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, will kick off its season with two international matches in Calgary, Alberta, against Puerto Rico on May 13 and 14. The team will again be part of FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix (www.fivb.org) and will compete at the Pan Am Games (www.toronto2015.org) in Toronto in July.
