TORONTO – A handful of swimmers will look to add their names to the world championship and Pan Games rosters as the 2015 Team Canada Trials concludes Saturday evening at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
Finals start at 6 p.m.
Competitors are battling for spots on the Canadian teams for the Pan Am Games in Toronto July 10-26 and the FINA World Championships July 24-August 9 in Kazan, Russia.
Among those seeded first going into tonight’s finals still looking for a spot are Mack Darragh of Oakville, Ont., Audrey Lacroix of Pont-Rouge, Que., in the 200-m butterfly, Evan White of Oakville in the 200 IM and Alex Loginov of Toronto in the 50-m freestyle.
The evening concludes with the men’s 1500-m freestyle featuring two-time Olympic medallist Ryan Cochrane of Swimming Canada’s High Performance Centre-Victoria.
The Pan Am Games and World Championship teams will be nominated following the final races, along with teams for the FISU Summer Universiade and FINA World Junior Championships.
This week’s competition also serves as one of the test events for the upcoming Toronto 2015 Pan American Games that run from July 10-26.
