(ISN) – WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth junior Marial Pierce (Middleburg, Va./St. John’s Catholic Prep) has been named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.
Pierce was a major factor in Monmouth extending its winning streak to five games, including staying perfect in league play. She led the Hawks this week in five stat categories, including goals, points, draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers.
In Monmouth’s overtime win against Quinnipiac, Pierce put together one of her most complete games as a Hawk. The junior tallied a hat trick, won six draw controls, gathered six ground balls and caused four turnovers from her attack position. Pierce’s first goal came as Monmouth overcame a 5-1 deficit; getting MU to within two in the first half. Her second goal tied the game up at 8-8 on a free position shot while her third goal of the game gave Monmouth its first lead with 5:26 to play.
In Saturday’s win over Siena, Pierce had four points on three goals and an assist as Monmouth put up 20 goals for the first time since the 2012 season.
