(ISN) – TORONTO, ON: Volleyball Canada is proud to officially introduce Adriana Bento as the assistant coach of the Beach National Team based at the full-time training centre in Toronto at Downsview Park.
“Adriana brings a very solid background as a player for Brazil, arguably the world’s top volleyball nation, and as a coach in Brazil and here in Canada,” said Beach National Team Head Coach, Steve Anderson. “She has been a great addition to our high performance team and will be an asset on the road to Rio.”
Bento spent 11 years as a professional beach player, with 20 top-10 finishes on the FIVB circuit, and a fifth-place finish at the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg in 1999. More recently, she has worked as a coaching consultant, personal coach and assistant coach of the University of Toronto women’s volleyball team.
“It’s an exciting time to see the beach volleyball program develop in Canada,” said Bento. “We have a great group of athletes who are working hard to perform well internationally on the FIVB and NORCECA tours, and here in Toronto this summer at the TO2015 Pan Am Games.”
