(ISN) – Vancouver, BC – Back by popular demand, the Vancouver Canucks in partnership with the PGA of British Columbia are proud to bring back Canucks Junior Golf Week presented by Odlum Brown Limited for 2015. This continued community partnership and program is designed to help children and youth from across British Columbia stay active and engaged in sport beyond the hockey season.
Canucks Junior Golf Week will once again take place from July 2-9, 2015, at more than 60 golf facilities throughout British Columbia. Children and youth aged 5-18 years of age will have fun learning the game of golf through certified PGA of British Columbia instructed golf camps in their respective communities.
BC Hockey is also providing support to the program by extending this opportunity to their vast membership of minor hockey players around the province. Boys and girls from all sports and all skill levels are encouraged to register. “With the overwhelming response we received last year, it’s great to be able to offer this unique and fun program to kids across the province once again,” said Chris Brumwell, Vice President, Communications & Community Partnerships, Canucks Sports & Entertainment. “It’s always encouraging to work closely with creative and forward thinking organizations like the PGA of BC. This is a great opportunity for young athletes to work on their skills away from the rink”.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Vancouver Canucks again with this great opportunity” says Donald Miyazaki, Executive Director of the PGA of British Columbia. “Over 400 kids were introduced to the game of golf last year as a result of this initiative at over 50 participating facilities throughout BC. With even more golf courses signed up for 2015 in communities throughout the province, we are excited to see the continued growth of this great program.”
The cost for a one day camp during Canucks Junior Golf Week is only $20 (+GST), which includes equipment rental (if required), facility fees and certified golf instruction. The length of each one-day camp will vary depending on facility, the number of attendees and the general age of the participants, but camps would be estimated to be two hours in length.
