(ISN) – The former West Kelowna Warriors defenseman and his Providence College Friars teammates knocked off the Boston University Terriers (and Jack Eichel) 4-3 in the NCAA Frozen Four Championship Game on Saturday.

Monk, who played for 3 other BCHL teams before finishing his career with 71 games in a Warriors uniform, was held pointless in the final.

The story of the game was goaltending, as Friars netminder Jon Gillies made 49 saves, including 6 on Eichel.

In the Boston University net however, Matt O’Connor’s mishandling of the puck on a 3rd period dump in, tied the score, and allowed the Friars to score the winning goal a minute later.

Former Surrey Eagle Brandon Tanev scored the winning goal for Providence.
