(ISN) – Blake Heinrich scored 5:40 into overtime to give the Portland Winterhawks a 2-1 win over the Everett Silvertips Friday in Game 4 of their second round playoff series in front of 8,590 fans at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Hawks now lead the series 3-1 with Game 5 Sunday in Everett at 4:05 p.m.
Nic Petan passed it into the slot to Heinrich, who put it top shelf to give the Hawks the 2-1 victory in overtime.
After a scoreless first period, Portland got on the board early in the second when Chase De Leo collected a loose puck in the slot and snapped a shot past Everett netminder Carter Hart for a 1-0 lead 1:15 into the frame. The Silvertips tied it at 12:54 on a goal by Ben Betker to make it 1-1, which remained the score going into the third.
In the third the Hawks were looking for the go-ahead goal, but Hart was up to the task, keeping the game even at 1-1 and setting up overtime.
The Hawks then applied pressure until Heinrich ended it at the 14:20 mark of the extra frame.
Adin Hill earned the win with 29 saves on 30 shots. Hart made 29 saves on 31 Portland shots.
Portland was a perfect 3-3 on the penalty kill.
