(ISN) – The Portland Winterhawks have signed Brett Clayton, a 16-year-old forward who played this season for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the British Columbia Major Midget League.
Clayton, 6’3″ and 197 pounds, had 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points in 40 games with the Thunderbirds.
“Brett came to training camp last August as an invite and earned himself a spot on our 50-player Protected List by displaying a combination of size and speed while managing the puck in all areas of the ice,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “He had a really good season and added an offensive element to his game. We’re excited that he has decided to sign with us and look forward to watching him compete for a roster spot next year.”
