(ISN) – Kamloops, BC – In their last home stand of the 2015 season, and for the graduating players, their WolfPack careers, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack baseball team split the weekend against the Vancouver Island Baseball Institute and the Okanagan College Coyotes.

In game one, the ‘Pack defeated the VIBI Mariners 10-5.

The game started off in the Mariners’ favour. By the second inning they were up 4-1 over the ‘Pack. TRU and VIBI traded runs in the third and fourth, before TRU exploded in the fifth with 7 runs. The ‘Pack added another in the sixth.

Relief pitcher, Nelson Lipszyc (Calgary, AB) picked up his first win of the season. Over 4 innings he gave up 5 hits and 2 runs. Lipszyc also walked 1.

WolfPack offence was led by Jay Huggins (Victoria, BC) who went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI.

Luc Simpson (Aldergrove, BC) went 2 for 3 with a double, stolen base and RBI.

Ethan Mohan (Calgary, AB) added another stolen base, double and RBI, going 2 for 4.

In the evening game, TRU lost a tight 1-0 decision to the Okanagan College Coyotes.

The Coyotes scored the only run of the game in the first inning. Offensively, TRU had chances to score. Unfortunately for the ‘Pack they were unable to push a run across the plate. Both teams combined to leave 13 runners on base during the game.

Erik Herbranson (Maple Ridge, BC) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 3 hits and one unearned run. Herbranson walked 4 and struck out 5 over 6 innings.

Offensively, Ethan Mohan went 2 for 4.

Luc Simpson went 1-2.

John Young (Fort McMurray, AB) also went 1-2.

The ‘Pack play at Kelowna’s Elks Stadium next weekend against the Okanagan College Coyotes and University of Calgary Dinos.
