Spring Championships Set to Begin Monday

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The regular-season conference schedules came to a close on Saturday for baseball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, softball and men’s and women’s tennis. The Commonwealth Conference and Freedom Conference Championships will get underway on Monday, April 27 as several teams look to punch their tickets to their respective NCAA Division III tournaments.

BASEBALL

The 2015 Commonwealth Conference Baseball Championship is set to begin on Thursday, April 30 and run through Saturday, May 2 at Santander Stadium in York, Pa. The Alvernia Crusaders (28-11, 17-4 Commonwealth) earned the top-seed and will open the tournament with No. 4 Widener (20-15, 12-9 Commonwealth) on Thursday at 4 p.m. Messiah (17-16, 13-8 Commonwealth) earned the No. 2 seed and will face No. 3 Stevenson (18-17-2, 13-8 Commonwealth) in the second game on Thursday at 7 p.m. The losers of both games will face each other on Friday at 11 a.m., with the winners of Thursday’s games to follow at 3 p.m. For the entire bracket see the championship central page in the above links.

The 2015 Freedom Conference Baseball Championship is set to begin on Thursday, May 7 and run through Saturday, May 9 at Owls Field in West Lawn, Pa. Eastern (14-20, 10-11 Freedom) locked up the No. 4 seed on Saturday. DeSales (22-12, 16-2), Misericordia (24-8, 13-5 Freedom) and Manhattanville (20-15, 13-7 Freedom) have all clinched berths to the conference tournament, but the seeds have still not been decided with three games left to play.

MEN’S LACROSSE

The 2015 Commonwealth Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship is set to begin on Monday, April 27 when No. 5 Lebanon Valley (8-7, 4-4 Commonwealth) travels to No. 4 Widener (6-9, 5-3 Commonwealth) for the play-in game at 7 p.m. The winner will travel to No. 1 Stevenson (13-4, 8-0 Commonwealth) on Wednesday, April 29 for the semifinal round at 7 p.m. No. 3 Albright (13-3, 6-2 Commonwealth) will travel to No. 2 Messiah (11-4, 6-2 Commonwealth) on April 29 in the other semifinal game at 4 p.m. The Commonwealth Conference Championship Game is set for Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.

The 2015 Freedom Conference Men’s Lacrosse Championship is set to begin on Wednesday, April 29 with the semifinal round. No. 1 Eastern (13-3, 6-0 Freedom) will host No. 4 King’s (6-7, 3-3 Freedom) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. In the other semifinal game, No. 2 Misericordia (9-6, 4-2 Freedom) will welcome No. 3 Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (8-6, 4-2 Freedom) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Freedom Conference Championship Game is set for Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

The 2015 Commonwealth Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship is set to begin on Monday, April 27 when No. 5 Albright (9-7, 3-5 Commonwealth) travels to No. 4 Arcadia (11-6, 4-4 Commonwealth) for the play-in game at 7 p.m. The winner will travel to No. 1 Messiah (12-4, 8-0 Commonwealth) on Thursday, April 30 for the semifinal round at 4 p.m. No. 3 Lebanon Valley (10-6, 6-2 Commonwealth) will travel to No. 2 Stevenson (11-6, 7-1 Commonwealth) on April 30 in the other semifinal game at 7 p.m. The Commonwealth Conference Championship Game is set for Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.

No. 1 Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (14-3, 6-0 Freedom) will host No. 4 Eastern (6-11, 3-3 Freedom) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. In the other semifinal game, N. 2 Misericordia (8-8, 5-1 Freedom) will host No. 3 King’s (8-6, 4-2 Freedom) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Freedom Conference Championship Game is set for Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.

SOFTBALL

The 2015 Commonwealth Conference Softball Championship is set to begin on Friday, May 1 and run through Sunday, May 3 at Lebanon Valley’s LVC Softball Park. Messiah (30-7, 16-0 Commonwealth) earned the No. 1 seed and will play the winner of game one on May 1 at 2 p.m. Game one is scheduled for May 1 at 10 a.m. between No. 5 Alvernia (16-15-1, 7-9 Commonwealth) and No. 4 Lebanon Valley (11-21, 8-8 Commonwealth). No. 3 Stevenson (17-16, 11-5 Commonwealth) will face No. 2 Widener (22-6, 12-4 Commonwealth) on May 1 at 12 p.m. For the entire bracket see the championship central page in the above links.

DeSales (13-13, 11-3 Freedom) earned the No. 1 seed and will face No. 4 King’s (16-11, 10-4 Freedom) in game one at 10 a.m. on May 1. No. 1 Messiah (7-6, 6-0 Commonwealth) will host No. 4 Alvernia (6-7, 3-3 Commonwealth) on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., while No. 3 Lebanon Valley (8-8, 4-2 Commonwealth) will travel to No. 2 Stevenson (7-6, 5-1 Commonwealth) at 3:30 p.m. The Commonwealth Conference Championship match is set for Saturday, May 2 at the highest remaining seed.

The No. 1 and No. 2 seeds will be decided on Sunday with Wilkes (15-1, 5-0 Freedom) and King’s (12-5, 5-0 Freedom) meet for the final conference match. The winner will be the No. 1 seed and the loser will be the No. 2 seed. Both will host semifinal round games at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. No. 4 Arcadia (7-5, 3-3 Freedom) will travel to the winner, while No. 3 Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (6-7, 4-2 Freedom) will travel to the loser.
