WEST KELOWNA – The West Kelowna Warriors have another college commitment.
Tyler Kunz, who was acquired from the Prince George Spruce Kings on January 1st, has commited to play hockey for the Lakehead University Thunderwolves this upcoming season.
Kunz was impressed immediately with the Thunder Bay area. “I had the opportunity to visit Lakehead University a few weeks ago and enjoyed everything I saw in the city, campus, and rink. I feel it will be a great fit for me moving forward.”
Rylan Ferster said of his January 1st move “We felt it was necessary to get a little older and more experienced on the back end to make a run down the stretch in this division.”
That couldn’t have proven more true, as Kunz was named the Top Defenseman at the year-end awards banquet. He added 4 goals and 11 assists in 15 games for the Warriors.
Kunz also had good things to say about the Warriors organization. “My time in West Kelowna was too short. I had a fantastic time here and the battled hard to make the playoffs. Unfortunately, we lost to a very good team. I couldn’t thank the team and organization enough for what they have done for me.”
Tyler Kunz joins a long list of West Kelowna players from this years roster who are heading to University in the next few seasons.
