Three Vees Take Home Hardware At Western Canada Cup Awards Banquet

PENTICTON, BC –Miles Gendron, Tyson Jost and Hunter Miska took home some serious hardware at the Western Canada Cup Awards Banquet Friday night in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Jost and Miska each took home three awards and Gendron was one of three Vees named to the All-Tournament team. Jost won the Top Forward and Top Scorer awards and was named to the All-Tournament team, after scoring a tournament-best five goals in four round-robin games. Jost finished atop of the scoring table with six points; tied with teammates Dakota Conroy, Connor Chartier and Patrick Newell.

Miska was named the Top Goaltender, Tournament MVP and to the All-Tournament team. Miska had tournament-best 1.76 goals-against average, .937 save-percentage and the only shutout of the round-robin. He allowed only seven goals on 114 shots faced and played the second-most minutes out of any goaltender.

Gendron finished tied for second in scoring by defensemen at the Western Canada Cup with four points in as many games. The Ottawa Senators draft pick’s four assists were second most at the WCC behind teammates Patrick Newell’s five helpers.

Western Canada Cup All-Tournament Team:

Goaltender- Hunter Miska, Penticton

Defense- Landon Peel (Portage) & Miles Gendron, Penticton

Forwards- Tyson Jost (Penticton), Brad Bowles (Portage) & Adam Durkee (Fort McMurray).

The Vees face the Portage Terriers in the Western Canada Cup Final on Saturday, May 2nd at the Casman Centre; face-off is 6:30pm PST. Fans can listen to the game on EZ Rock 800. There’s also an official viewing party at Tugs Tag House on Martin Street in Penticton, as they’ll be streaming the Fasthockey pay-per-view webcast.
