It was a good day for the boys in green and white as both the Intermediate ‘A’ and Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks picked up wins at the Q Centre today.

In the early contest it was the Intermediate Rocks jumping out to a 5-2 first period lead against the visiting Maple Ridge Burrards. The visitors managed to make a game of it in the middle period but the Shamrocks rolled away in the third period for the 12-7 win. That makes them 2-0 early in the season. Rookie Ben Preston led the way offensively with a hat trick while Colten Merilainen added a goal and 4 helpers and Brad McCulley chipped in a goal and 3 assists. Liam Finnigan, Braylon Lumb and team captain Marshall King each had a pair of goals with Garrett Wicks adding a single. The Intermediate Shamrocks are on the road Sunday and return to the Q Centre for a home game next Saturday, May 9 to take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies in a 1:30 pm start.

The Jr. Shamrocks evened their record to 1-1 with a convincing 11-3 win against an under-manned Port Coquitlam Saints squad. Victoria led 2-0 and 6-1 by period on their win to the victory. Colin Bashford, Cole Pickup and Jamie Jensen each had a pair of goals while Rees Cullen and Max Cullen each chipped in a goal and 2 assists. Other goals came from Bradon Senft and Steve Ackinclose. Charles Claxton went the distance in goal and picked up the win.
