The Detroit Red Wings have signed Portland Winterhawks forward Dominic Turgeon to a three-year entry level contract. Turgeon was selected by Detroit in the third round, 63rd overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Turgeon had career-highs with 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 67 games this season. He added eight goals and an assist for nine points in 17 playoff games. He is currently with Detroit’s American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins during their playoff run.

“In talking to the Red Wings organization throughout the season I know they’re excited about his development and potential,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “Dominic has established himself as an impact two-way center. His skills and leadership abilities make him a great candidate to succeed at the next level.”
