The Jr. Shamrocks took down the Jr. Timbermen in Nanaimo Tuesday in a typical island battle, as they picked up a 10-8 victory. The Rocks trailed 2-1 after the first but had a 4-goal run in the middle frame to hold a 1-goal lead after 40 minutes.

A late goal gave them the 2-goal victory after the teams traded goals throughout the final period. Leading the way offensively for the Shamrocks were Cole Pickup with 2 goals and 2 helpers and Nick Preston with 2 goals and 1 assist. McLean Chicquen also had a 3-point night with a goal and 2 assists. David Byrne, Max Fredrickson, Matt Hamilton, Danny Smith and Dallas Wade also chipped in singles. The win gives the Shamrocks a record of 5-2, just 2 points behind the league-leading Delta Islanders. The Shamrocks return home to the Q Centre this Saturday, May 23 for a 5:00 game against the visiting Burnaby Lakers. At 1:30 the same day, the Intermediate Shamrocks will put their unbeaten streak on the line as they take on the Port Coquitlam Saints.
