Black-and-Red ties New England, 1-1, remains in first place in Eastern Conference

Washington, D.C. – D.C. United (6-2-4, 22 points) remains at the top of the Eastern Conference after a 1-1 tie again the New England Revolution (5-3-5; 20 points).  

 

New England’s Charlie Davies put the Revolution ahead right before halftime with an unassisted goal in the 46th minute. After halftime, New England’s Chris Tierney was sent off with a red card in the 52nd minute after a challenge on Chris Pontius. Already up a man, New England’s Lee Nguyen received his second yellow card of the match in the 58th minute to give United a two-man advantage. Jairo Arrieta leveled the score for United in the 80th minute off an assist from Taylor Kemp and Facundo Coria.

D.C. United returns to action on Wednesday, May 27, at the Portland Timbers (10:30 p.m. EST; CSN)

*Jairo Arrieta scored his third goal of 2015, the 20th of his MLS career.

*Taylor Kemp recorded his third assist of 2015, the 5th of his MLS career.

*Facundo Coria recorded his first assist of 2015, the 1st of his MLS Career.
