The Jr. Shamrocks made it 2-for-2 this weekend with a convincing 16-9 victory on the road against the Burnaby Lakers Sunday.
The game was a bit late starting due to travel problems and the Lakers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but by the end of the first period, the Shamrocks had gotten into a 4-4 tie. The score was 9-8 for the Shamrocks after the second and they outscored the home team 7-1 in the final period to get the win. Max Fredrickson had the hat trick for Victoria while McLean Chicquen, Matt Hamilton, Ryan Lewis, Cole Pickup, Jake Cullen and Dallas Wade each had a pair of goals, Chicquen adding 5 assists for a 7-point night. Steve Ackinclose had the other Victoria goal while Charles Claxton picked up the win with 26 saves as the Shamrocks heavily outshot the Lakers, 47-35. The Jr. Rocks are on the road against the Delta Islanders next Saturday and return to the Q Centre on Tuesday, June 9 to take on the Nanaimo Timbermen. Game time is 8:00 pm.
