The Team Island Midget Lacrosse Team faired very well at this weekends Team B.C. Main Camp at the Langley Event Centre. Every player was fighting for a spot on Team BC but also for the very sought after BC Cup. It was a clean sweep at the Pee Wee, Midget and Bantam Main Camps which took place on separate weekend with all of the island teams winning the coveted title.

The Midget Team Island lacrosse tryouts were held at the Fuller Lake arena on April 25th. All second year midget players who are currently registered with a Vancouver Island Box Lacrosse Association are invited to tryout.
Players from all over Vancouver Island were given a chance to show their skills through a variety of drills and finished off with a fast paced scrimmage. It was apparent that all players were all fighting for a spot on the island roster. There was no doubt that the young men were putting their all into this try out. Unfortunately Campbell River player Nolan Fair suffered a broken ankle during the tryout dashing his hopes of making Team Island this year and trying out for a spot on the B.C. Team that will participate in the Box Lacrosse National is Whidby Ontario in August.

The 2015 Team Island head coach is Peter Parke. Peter had a very successful lacrosse career playing 15 years senior lacrosse including 7 combined years with Detroit, Rochester and Buffalo. He has coached both the midget and intermediate levels in the Comox Valley for 10 years. On top of owning Tsolum Mobile Veterinary Health Ltd and being a large animal veterinarian he also further gives back to the community by coaching boys rugby and girls basketball at GP Vanier.

Coach Parke, will be assisted by, Warren Dickie. Coach Dickie played both minor and Jr A lacrosse in Victoria. He has coached in the Comox area as well as held many executive positions with Comox Minor Lacrosse.

At the end of the tryout Coach Parke addressed the players and told them before he started the exit interviews that he was looking for players with good attitudes and who were coachable. Congratulations to the players who were successful in securing a spot on Midget Team Island Midget 2015
