Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) is proud to release the 2015 women’s and men’s soccer schedules, with the regular season officially set to open September 4-5.

The first complete weekend of Canada West conference play on both the men’s and women’s side is slated for September 11-13, with 28 combined games set to push the regular season into full swing, including the defending women’s champion Trinity Western Spartans hosting UBC, while last year’s champions on the male side, the Saskatchewan Huskies, play host to Manitoba.

Friday, October 9 features a rematch of last year’s women’s gold medal game, when the 2014 Canada West silver medalists from Fraser Valley host last year’s CIS runners-up and reigning conference champions, the Trinity Western Spartans.

The men’s side provides an earlier look at last year’s conference finalists, as the Canada West champion Huskies and the conference runners-up the Alberta Golden Bears meet Sunday, September 13 in Saskatoon.

2015 marks a significant change to the women’s playoff format, with 12 teams earning spots in the postseason for the first time in conference history.

The women’s playoff schedule features a regional playoff weekend, with three teams from both the Pacific and Prairie regions advancing to the conference tournament – the Canada West Select Six. The highest advancing seed from each region receives a quarterfinal bye at the conference tournament, before playing a semi-final matchup against the other region’s quarterfinal winner.

The format replaces the existing eight-team playoff, which featured a quarterfinal weekend and a conference final four.

Both conference championship tournaments are slated for November 5 to 8. The men will look to advance to York for CIS Nationals (Nov. 12-15), while the women hope to stay closer to home, as UBC hosts CIS Nationals (Nov. 12-15).
