Canada Concludes its First Women’s Grand Prix 2015 Weekend

Carolina, Puerto Rico, July 6, 2015 – Canada finished off its first Grand Prix weekend with a loss to Poland in Pool K on Sunday.  Poland outplayed Canada by 3-1 (25-18, 20-25, 28-26, 25-17) for second place in the pool. Canada sits at fourth in this pool.

On Saturday, Canada beat Bulgaria in five sets; after a loss on Friday to Puerto Rico.

Yesterday, Poland’s Tamara Kaliszuk contributed 21 points; while teammate Zuzanna Efimienko impressed with 10 kill blocks for a total of 16 points in the match.  Tabitha Love was Canada’s top scorer with 20 points.

Arnd Ludwig, Canada’s head coach: “I am disappointed with this result,” said Canada’s head coach, Arng Ludwig, “but we continue to work toward next week.”

The two teams will face each other again next week (July 11) in Argentina.  Canada also faces the host Argentina on July 10; and the Netherlands on July 12.

The next stop for the women’s team after Grand Prix is the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games.
