Day One of Toronto 2015 Pan American Games sees Canada’s Women’s Team go undefeated, Men’s Team earn two wins with medals on tomorrow’s horizon

TORONTO, ON – Day One of the 2015 Pan American Games got underway at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto, Ontario today with nearly 10,000 fans taking in the action.
Canada’s Men’s Sevens Team booked their ticket to the Pan American Games quarterfinals after posting two wins on Day One of the competition. In front of a passionate home crowd, Canada raced out to a 45-0 victory over Guyana and a 26-14 win over Brazil, before falling to Argentina 21-7 in their pool finale.
Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team ended Day One of the Pan American Games atop their six-team pool standings, after amassing three clinical shutout victories that saw them outscore opponents 151-0. After opening the day with a 55-0 win over Colombia and a 60-0 victory over Mexico, Canada closed out Day One with a 36-0 defeat of Brazil.

Tomorrow’s slate of games will feature fixtures with Argentina and the United States of America to complete pool play for Canada’s Women’s Team, with the Men facing Chile in the knockout-stages.
