Victoria B.C.: Local roller derby fans were treated to three home team wins in three games at Archie Browning this weekend, starting with a 191 – 126 victory for the best players in the Eves of Destruction league, the A-Team, over the Terminal City’s B-side from Vancouver on Saturday night. With the win, the A-Team ends their season at 3-1.
A-Team Co-Captain Rage credits the team’s deep bench of jammers for the win.
“We were able to choose from eight skaters to jam and that was helpful for fatigue. Our walls and recycling started out a little shaky but with Felix the Brat’s excellent captainship and Velvita Slicer’s coaching we were able to really pull together and keep their jammers contained”
Rage says strong performances from Wife of Wrath, Nailer Down, Moxie Fox, Fawn Dollz, and The Jack Widow all factored in the win.
The winning trend continued the next morning with a 189 – 155 win for theVancouver Island All-Stars – a team featuring a number of Eves’ players — over Terminal City’s B-Side from Vancouver.
The Eves’ Belles of the Brawl then took the track against the visitingBrickhouse Betties from Comox, and thanks to a strong second half were able to secure the win, 237 – 95. The Belles’ victory was in part thanks to solid defensive effort from Slaya Patra and Moxie Fox, and a 30 point jam from Rage.
The Eves are back in action on September 19th at Archie Browning with their annual home versus home match-up featuring the Belles and the Margarita Villains.
