The Kelowna Falcons had a dominant outing from Nat Hamby and a late clutch hit from Vinny Esposito to win Game 2 against Walla Walla by a 2-0 score Wednesday night in Washington.
Hamby worked all 9 innings, scattering 6 hits while striking out 10. He would retire 5 of the last 7 batters by the way of strike three.
Esposito would come up clutch in the 7th inning when he doubled down the line allowing Andre Jackson to score from 1st base. It was the first hit in 6 games for Esposito.
The Falcons added another run in the 8th after a leadoff single from Kyle Plantier saw him move to 2nd on a Matt Hearn bunt.
Plantier would get a great jump and swipe 3rd, and after a failed squeeze attempt, he would come across to make it 2-0 on a wild pitch from Clayten Ayers.
Hamby shut the door in the final two innings, as he finished the 9th by striking out the side on his 119th pitch, 81 of which were strikes.
The Falcons will look for another series win on Thursday night as they take on the Walla Walla Sweets at Borleske Stadium. Kelowna has a 5 game lead in the WCL East Division over Yakima Valley heading into Thursday action.
