Stransky to join Team Czech Republic next week.
Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders announced Friday that forward Simon Stransky will dress for the Czech Republic National Under-20 Team in the Under-20 4 Nations Tournament.
The Czech squad will assemble on Sunday, August 2, for training camp in Chomutov, Czech Republic before the tournament takes place from August 6-8. The team, made up of 1997-born players, will take on under-20 national teams from Germany, Slovakia, and Switzerland.
Similar to Hockey Canada’s Summer Showcase, the 4 Nations Tournament offers the countries involve an opportunity to evaluate their own players in games against other national teams – opposed to inter-squad games.
A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Stransky is set to begin his second season with the Raiders this fall. In 2014-15, the five-foot-eleven. 170-pound winger collected 12 goals and 30 assists for 42 points in 70 games. Stransky has represented his country multiple times over the past three years, including the 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the 2015 World Under-18 Championship. In 45 international games, Stransky has 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points.
