T-Birds Trade Spencer To Swift Current

KENT, August 18, 2015 – Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has traded right wing Calvin Spencer to the Swift Current Broncos for a conditional sixth round selection in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

 
“We want to wish Calvin all the best with Swift Current,” said Farwell. “He has become a real solid two-way forward and penalty killer. But we simply had to make room or some younger players heading into the season.”
 
Last season Spencer played 67 games and had five goals and eight assists for 13 points. In his rookie season in 2013-14 Spencer had three goals and three assists for six points in 32 games.
 
T-Birds Training Camp opens on Tuesday, August 25, with four scrimmages at ShoWare Center between players born in 1999 and 2000. There are Training Camp scrimmages all this week and the annual Blue White game on Saturday, August 29, at 5:30pm at ShoWare Center concludes Training Camp.  
 
All Training Camp scrimmages and game are open to the public free of charge. Fans attending any of the scrimmages or game should enter ShoWare Center from the east side of the building. A full list of scrimmage teams and game times can be found on the T-Birds website.
 
The Thunderbirds will play six exhibition games prior to the start of the 2015-2016 regular season. The only home preseason game is against the Victoria Royals on Friday, September 18, at 7:35pm at ShoWare Center.
 
The T-Birds open the 2015-16 season in Vancouver against the Giants onFriday, September 25, at 7:30pm at Pacific Coliseum.
 
The T-Birds home opener for the 2015-16 season is Saturday, October 3, against the Prince George Cougars at 7:05pm at ShoWare Center.
