ESQUIMALT, B.C. – The Victoria Cougars scored once in each period to defeat the Peninsula Panthers 3-1 in preseason action on Sunday afternoon.

James Scott, Nathan Looysen, and Ryan Carson tallied for Victoria who went 1-for-2 with the man advantage.

Replying for the Panthers was Ben Dawson.

Anthony Ciurro made 12-of-13 saves during the first half of the game while Sean Wendlandt turned aside all eight shots he faced over the final 30 minutes.

Absorbing the loss was Alex Olson who made 32 saves.

Peninsula, who finished the preseason with a 0-3-0-0 record, went 0-for-4 on the power play.

 

The Cougars went 1-0-0-0 in their only preseason game.

With the preseason in the books, Victoria now prepares for its season and home opener set for Thursday, September 10 against the Kerry Park Islanders.
