Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals are proud to announce the signing of 18-year-old forward Tyler Thompson to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement.

Thompson was listed to the Royals’ 50-man protected player list earlier this year. Each WHL team is allowed to protect 50 players which includes individuals who have either been signed, drafted or listed by their respective club.

“Tyler is a skilled and physical forward with good hockey sense.” General Manager Cameron Hope said. “We are very happy to welcome Tyler and his family to the Royals’ organization.”

The 6-4, 191 lb, Thompson split the 2014-15 season with the Omaha AAA Lancers Under-18 team and the Minnesota Revolution Under-18 club of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). The Lakeville, MN product collected 12 points (3g-9a) along with 54 penalty minutes in 22 games with the Lancers and Revolution.

Thompson will be playing in tonight’s intra-squad game at 7:05 p.m. at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.
