It was a great start to the local high school football with an JV exhibition game between the Samuel Robertson Technical Titans and the Spectrum Thunder.
The JV Spectrum Thunder took to the field with mostly grade 9 first year and first time players. The senior players on the team took charge and helped the younger players to settle in to their first game. I believe the score ended up being 21 to 8 for Samuel Robertson Technical, but the score did not represent the game.
The Spectrum boys held the SRT Titans to a safety with a strong defense in the first half. The Thunder’s defense had a couple of big plays, stopping the Titans on the one yard line denying them a touchdown. Player #2 from Spectrum Thunder, opened the second half by scoring the first touchdown of the game on the opening play which was at least a 80 yard kick return. Both teams played well and as the season goes on, watching the Spectrum Thunder team will make for some great football.
The Spectrum Varsity Thunder have their home opener Friday sept. 18th @ 2:00 at Spectrum High School
