Victoria rattled off five unanswered goals Friday

NORTH SAANICH, B.C. – Brett Lervold scored twice and added an assist to help lead the Victoria Cougars to a 6-3 come from behind win over the Peninsula Panthers.

Trailing after one period, Victoria rattled off five unanswered goals Friday to remain undefeated on the young season.

The Cougars beat the Kerry Park Islanders 6-3 in their season opener last night.

Cody Hodges, John Kretzschmar, Dom Kolbeins, and PJ Heger also scored for Victoria while Kameron Fink chipped in with two assists.

Peninsula got a pair of goals from Cameron Thompson and another from Marty Westhaver.

Sean Wendlandt and Anthony Ciurro combined for 22 saves for the Cougars.  Wendlandt gave up three goals on 11 shots while Ciurro, who picked up the win in relief, stopped all 11 shots he faced.

Alex Olson made 35 saves in a losing effort.

Victoria went 0-for-5 on the power play while the Panthers were 1-for-5.

After winning their season opener, Peninsula has now dropped two straight.

Next game for the Cougars is Thursday, September 17 against the Westshore Wolves.  Game time at the Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
