It was almost a great result after a exciting third period finish.

The Grizzlies home opener saw two goals in the first period, one from each side. In front of a cheering crowd of just over 1000 hockey fans Grizzlies Nick Guiney. Coquitlams Jackson Cressy tied the game before the period was out.

The second period saw the teams trade goals again. First from Coquitlams Erik Udahl on the PP. Then the Grizzlies answered back to tie the score from Jake Stevens with under a minute left in the second period.

The third period saw Coquitlam pull ahead with two goals from Colton Kerfoot on the PP and Jake Brien. Grizzlies had some trouble mounting an attack for sometime in the middle section of the third. Late in the game the came storming back with a goal from Corey Iapalucci with under two minutes left to play. Then with one second left in the game Chuck Bennis scored to force overtime. The Q Centre went crazy.

Overtime brought on some chances at both ends but Coquitlam’s Jackson Cressey scored a dribbler over the goal line to win the game.
