CALGARY – The Trinity Western men’s volleyball team took the first and third sets, but was unable to hold off a resilient Calgary side, as the Dinos rallied twice to even the match, before winning the fifth set 15-12 Friday. The final score saw TWU lose 18-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12.
The loss sets the Spartans on a rare three-match losing skid as they are now just 2-3 overall in preseason action.
“We’re disappointed. We’re frustrated. And we’re ready to work our way through it,” said Spartans coach Ben Josephson. “Nothing good comes from losing; just more lessons to learn. That’s how we’re approaching it, so we have lots of lessons to learn and lots of work to do. We have great character in the room and great players to work with and I’m excited for us to keep working to become the team we want to be.”
The Spartans will play Saskatchewan Saturday at 3 p.m. in their final match of the Dino Cup. They will then go to Kamloops, B.C. next weekend to compete in the Thompson Rivers tournament.
