LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western women’s basketball team opened its preseason schedule on a positive note, winning 68-60 over UNBC Friday at the Spartans David E. Enarson Gym.
Playing in the on-campus gym, the Spartans did well to handle a sizable UNBC side as they got the preseason rolling with a tidy win.
“Tonight was a good start to the CIS preseason,” said Spartans coach Cheryl Jean-Paul. “We knew coming in that we would be undersized, but I thought we worked hard to take that advantage away. To have multiple scorers establish themselves this early in the season is an encouraging sign of things to come. We look forward to playing a completely different team tomorrow in order to continue building towards the regular season.”
The Spartans will host UBC Okanagan Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Langley Events Centre.
